My thoughts on the movie "National Treasures".

National Treasures is an awesome movie. The main character (Ben Gates) is a treasure hunter that was following a clue about a grand treasure. The first clue his grandfather gave to him is at the beginning of the movie when he was a kid. His dad said that there's just clues after clues after clues, but Ben wanted to find the treasure. The treasure was fought over by warriors and armies for centuries, each time the treasure gets grander and grander every time it changed hands. Before the American Revolution, the treasure was hidden by the founding fathers. It was hidden to stop the British from finding it, but his father said that it was a myth to keep the British searching for the treasure. On this American Revolution, it should have been ruled by the British, too bad the stupid French had to help out. England could of used that land but anyway, it happened.

So Ben Gates, played by Nicolas Cage is searching for the grand treasure. The next clue is on a boat, him and his friends were looking for the next clue. When they found a pipe with the clue around it, Ian Howe (one of Bens' friends) and his gang turned on Ben and Riley Poole. The next clue had a cipher on it that translated to the back of the Declaration of Independence, and Ian wanted to steal it. Then they had a fight leading to the end of they're "group colaboration". Back in France, the Aristocrats tried to overpower the people of France and when the people got tired of it, they revolted.

Ben Gates decided to steal the Declaration (after they tried to convice the F.B.I., the Department of Homeland Security, and the museum person that specializes in public concerns) instead of Ian stealing it and destroying it. His friend Riley said that it was impossible and that it was crazy until they went to the Library of Congress, when they saw an opening in the security. Both Ben and Ian were trying to steal the Declaration on the same evening during an anniversary party in the National Archives. After Ben stole the Declaration, Abigail Chase confronted him outside the building. Ian saw her with what he thought was the original Declaration and kidnapped her in his van. Ben and Riley went after them and rescued her. Abigail started helping Ben and Riley after they told her what they were doing and of the clue that may be on the back of the Declaration. Stealing the Declaration was like the Scarlet Pimpernel and his men sneaking into France and rescuing the aristocrats.

The three of them found the next clue on the back of the Declaration and of course there were more clues to follow. The clues led them to the Silence Dogood letters written by Benjamin Franklin. These clues then led to Indepencdence Hall in Philadelphia to find glasses to be able to read more of the map that was on the back of the Declaration. While they were in Philadelphia, Ian and his group found them and tried to steal the Declaration along with the glasses. They managed to get away from them for a while until the FBI came and arrested Ben. As Abigail and Riley were running fron Ian's men, she almost got hit by a truck, dropped the Declaration, and Ian picked it up. Chauvelin and Ian are alike because they are after clues to find what they want. Chauvelin is after the Scarlet Pimpernel while Ian is after the grand treasure. They are the same in that they will kill for what they want, but at least Chauvelin is working for the French government while Ian is working for himself.

Abigail made a deal with Ian and his guys to help Ben escape from the FBI by promising the treasure. When they rescued Ben, they all met at the church where the clue had led them next. In the meantime, Ian kidnapped Ben's dad and now all of them were involved in searching for the treasure. The next clue led them under the church and graveyard where Ben and his group would trick Ian into thinking there is a next clue that led them to Boston. Ian and his men left Ben's group down in the cave so they could get to the treasure first and no where for Ben's group to escape. However, the treasure was soon found under the church through some more walls. Chauvelin made a deal with Margauritte to not kill her brother in exchange for information about the Scarlet Pimpernel.

Ben and his group found the treasure and called the FBI. They gave different items of the grand treasure to different places throughout the world and they told the FBI where Ian was. Ian and his men were then arrested trying to break into a building in Boston. The Scarlet Pimpernel escaped Chauvelin for the last time in France and no one ever saw Chauvelin in England again.
